I have moved finally!!!

Hi Sweet Xanga Sisters!
I have finally made the move from malawisister to grannydeb. Actually I couldn't figure out how to change my name without starting all over so that is what I did. If you would like to continue to communicate with me, please go to my new site and subscribe. Then I can subscribe to yours if you like. It has been so long since I first joined xanga that I can't remember how I got it all connected, but I am sure we will get together some how. I will leave this one up until I get it all figured out, but I won't be posting on it. I made my first post on grannydeb already. I decided to "do all things grandmotherly". ha. This next chapter in my life is going to be fun with little Paycie Brynn and all the other little rays of sunshine that will follow. I can't wait.

Saturday was test day. I feel pretty sure that I didn't pass. I think Doug feels just as sure that he did pass. So maybe there is hope for one of us at least. I was very pleased with my progress in an area that I haven't even thought about in thirty years. I couldn't get it all in before the test date though. Everything I studied made sense up to logarithms and they slowed me down. By the time I recovered from them, I only had two weeks left and much too much material to cover. I got as far as learning about sinusoids, beginning matrix and statistics. It just wasn't enough and I knew it wasn't. But I was happy with my progress and pleased that I was able to answer nearly half the questions with no problem on the two hour test. The real clincher was the models and proofs test with only four problems and only one hour to get something on paper. I was too slow and only got halfway finished. So I will keep trying and hopefully next go around will prove positive results. My only disappointment lies in the fact that I will not be able to join the nontraditional teaching program until next year. The results will not be in for another three weeks.

I quit my newspaper part time job a few weeks before the test to give myself more focus. I have applied for a graphic design job at the local university and one about an hour away at Conway with International Paper. We go to California for two weeks of meetings and after that I will hit the pavement again, if I still haven't heard anything from these two jobs. I am really looking forward to seeing California and all our brothers and sisters out there. I have never been there and it has been twenty years since Doug has been out there. Look out California here we come!

Hello sweet xanga sisters!
I have made no progress in getting my site changed to grannydeb. I have come to the understanding that I will have to close the malawisister and start a new one. I don't want to spend the time on that right now so here we are with one thing on the outside and another inside. ha. If anyone knows how I can do it without having to reinvite everyone to a new site please let me know.
Logarithm equations float in my dreams at night. I have 12 days left to my Math Praxis tests. Some days I feel good about it. Some not so good. But I have made a tremendous amount of progress since January. It has made me more determined than ever that this is what I want to do. If I fail one or both tests, they give them again in July so I will keep at it until I pass. The disappointment lies in the fact that if I don't pass this time around, I will have to wait another full year to enter the program that begins the first of June. And that won't be the end of the world, but just another lesson in patience. So pray for me that the Lord will help me stay focused with a clear mind and remember everything I have been cramming in for the last four months.
Have a great week!

Jonathan and Marissa are visiting this week since it is their spring break. Yesterday they went hiking at Petit Jean Mountain while Doug and I studied and worked. Sunday was Jonathan's birthday so I told him I would make him a birthday pie for supper. It was most likely the most delicious chocolate pie ever created, but we will never know for sure. I put it in the oven to brown the meringue and jumped in the shower to get ready for work. I asked Doug to take it out of the oven when it was done. He did his job. Just as I was finishing up in the bathroom, I heard a glass shattering that sounding like he took a glass and slammed it on the floor. When I burst out of the bathroom, I saw the pie plate all over the kitchen and the chocolate pie slowly melting down over the burner. I had forgotten to turn the electric burner off after making the pie filling. He chose to let it cool on top of that burner. I went to work. He cleaned up glass and pie for an hour or more. No pie for birthday supper. Oh well.
So today I have attempted it again. It looks beautiful, but I am sure it won't taste nearly as good as that one. We'll never know will we.
David and Amanda sold their house. They put it on the market and sold it within the week. No surprise as beautiful as it is. They have already found another one to renovate this summer. So we know what will be going on over in WV for the next while.
We are plugging along on the Praxis studies. I can pass the Geometry part now. Time to move on to the next series. Everyone keep Tim and Mona in your prayers this week in hopes that he has his surgery soon and they remove the tumor.
I have finally decided on a new name for my blog...grannydeb. Any surprise. So when I get time some time you will probably get a change from xanga. Don't know just how that works.
God bless!

I'm Practicing!

granny gown

Sara Ayers sent me a Granny Gown! And she didn't even know that I was soon to be a granny? Technically I am one now, even though I don't have a little one on the outside to show for it. She made flannel gowns for her family and friends in California and she made one for me to keep the cold out here in Arkansas. Bless her heart! It has been cold and I have enjoyed my granny gown. I spend all of my time studying math when I am not at work and church these days. I just love flannel during the winter. I spend more time in my flannel than I do my street clothes. I wish I had a photo handy of forty years ago or so. My mom used to make all four of us girls a flannel night gown for the winter almost every year...or until we grew out of it and then she would make us another one. Another thing she did was knit us house shoes. She even taught us how to knit them, but I have long since forgotten. Now that we have a new little sunshine coming on the horizon, I need to start thinking about those things and what kind of handywork my fingers can recall to do. It has been so long since I have made quilts, cross-stitched, embroidered or even sewn for that matter, but new babies bring those instincts back to mind. I will have to put my thinking cap on or at least divert it from math. Speaking of math, only by Divine intervention will I be able to pass that test. It is far beyond me, but I just can't give it up yet. I love math and have truly enjoyed all of the hours I have put into it. I have learned so much and am surprised a what I do recall. So maybe just maybe I will be able to knit again since I have sunshine motivation. Only the Lord knows.
